Dear Friends of Middleway Urban Monastery,
We continue to add new events to meet the needs of our community. This week we begin offering 12-Step Evening Prayer on Saturdays at 6 p.m. Led by Dr. Amy Thompson, the service incorporates steps found in many 12-step groups such as AA and Al-Anon. This is a chance to slow down during the weekend, reflect, and connect with the God of our understanding. We welcome everyone on the journey to healing and serenity! Go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheMiddlewayUrbanMonastery/ at 6 p.m. July 18.
Our next retreat will begin Thursday July 23 via Zoom and includes a variety of options through Friday July 24. As with all our offerings, it is free. Here's more:
July 23-24 -- Digital Monasticism: Exploring Creative Hope Creative hope...what we all need a little more of at this time and here's how to explore it digitally. This retreat will be led by Dr. Heidi Campbell, a spiritual director and university professor who specializes in religion and social media. This retreat offers various parts via Zoom. Find out more on our Events tab at https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheMiddlewayUrbanMonastery/ Send an email to info@middlewayurbanmonastery to get the Zoom meeting ID. This retreat also will be archived on the FB group site permanently.
Last week's retreat, "None of your Busyness: Finding God in Your Daily Life through the Ancient Practice of Praying the Hours" will be available for viewing Tuesday July 14 at 9 a.m. on our Facebook group page.
For those new to our community:
Thanks for your interest in Middleway Urban Monastery. We aim to provide space for those seeking hope, comfort and peace as they explore ways of experiencing God’s love.
For the time being, our monastery is online only. We plan to eventually offer a physical space in Bryan, Texas. Even then, however, we will continue to offer our prayer times, meditations, centering, contemplation and various workshops and retreats online via our Facebook group and led by spiritual directors and leaders around the Bryan-College Station area.
A key feature is that you do not have to join the FB group page in order to participate. Just come to the monastery online – and eventually in person – as often as you want. https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheMiddlewayUrbanMonastery/ Our Facebook group page includes daily events as well as videos from past events so that you may enjoy at times other than when first presented, as it fits your schedule.
Until we can offer in-person events, our community is forming by way of this weekly newsletter. Share it newsletter widely. All are welcome and may subscribe by going to https://www.middlewayurbanmonastery.org/contact
