Dear Middleway Urban Monastery friends,
Book clubs, what's the point, you might ask. Everyone knows reading exercises the brain, but one doesn't need a group for that.
Some of the reasons to have a club, or group of people who agree to read the same book at the same time, is because it causes us to gather regularly with old and new friends, to read things we might otherwise not have chosen, and to share in a supportive environment how we agree or disagree with what a given author writes.
At Middleway, we meet weekly with such a group. Some return for each book and some come for a specific book of interest. But all have agreed that we've learned even more by hearing what others say about a book. We also learn to listen to how something impacts another soul.
Pick up this month's book and join us on Thursday so we can get to know you and your viewpoints. You will add so much to our discussion. The July book is listed below along with books chosen through next January.
